Here I am alone in my car
Hopelessness incorporated
I’m driving to wherever you are
Now that all of my dreams have been confiscated
Circa 1975
Now that it’s too late to have died a young man
Well I’m just glad that I’m still alive
For what hasn’t killed me will make me stronger
Chorus...
Goodbye to that
Goodbye to all of that artifact
Goodbye to that
Goodbye to all of that artifact
Tell me what I already know
Nothing is left of me, all of this is vertigo
Turn around and show me your shadow
Now that I’ve left you I feel all the afterglow
Chorus...
Goodbye to that
Goodbye to all of that artifact
Goodbye to that
Goodbye to all of that artifact
Goodbye to everything out of whack
Here I am alone in my car
Hopelessly infatuated
Now I’m driving to wherever you are
Love me and leave me intoxicated
Chorus...

This is undoubtedly my single favorite album of all time. It feels like such a perfect culmination of all the themes and ideas Fleet Foxes has been working with since 2008. It answers many of the questions found on both Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up, and represents an incredible maturation and growth in Robin Pecknold's perspective. Their other albums are certainly masterpieces, but this, in my opinion, is their magnum opus. I doubt it will be recognized as such in its time. isaiah_stuart
Stark, folk-derived songs built on brittle acoustic guitars that conjure the image of a fire burning in the distance on a dark night. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 8, 2022
